What does the Dunedin Doggie Rescue do? We rescue dogs from rural kill shelters on their last days (allowing others to adopt first). We began our rescue in October 2006 and by the summer of 2008 had placed 54 dogs that were on their last days in the rural counties Putnam (Palatka) and Clay (Green Cove Springs) and (Levy (Bronson). In 2009, we are hoping to work with Hillsborough and Pinellas County to help our local own overpopulation problem, as well. |

How can you help? Get on our mailing list; pass the flyers around of the dogs that need homes Become a foster...we make it a easy as possible... dogs are already vetted when you get them and have been through that critical first week of adjusting from jail to home. In most cases they are housebroken. We provide a cage to crate train in. We can set your max time of fostering to as little as two weeks. Our average adoption is about three weeks Offer to be a dog sitter... our fosters are out of town from time to time so they need dog sitters at your home or come to the foster’s home and walk a rescue 2 times a day. Bring your friends to our dog showings. They are once a week on a Wed, Thurs or Fri at Dunedin Brewery, Got Wines and Cigars, Skips, Jolli Mons and other places. Organize a yappy hour... host a martini, beer or wine party at your house. Ask your friends who have businesses or services for gift certificates we can either use for the dogs or for raffle prizes for the next fundraiser. Donate any dog related items, including blankets, throw rugs, dog medications, etc. |
